It dates to the 1920's and is machine pieced using a rosy pink cotton Chambray (which has faded to a light peach in some areas) and a bright white cotton. Measuring 87" x 74", it has a thin cotton batting, a hand applied binding, and a bright white cotton back. HAND QUILTED with running feather quilting down the center of each bar surrounded by diamond quilting, and diamond quilting on the border @ 11 very neat and very tiny stitches per inch counting one side only. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found light sun fading overall, with most fading on the ends (as shown), and a couple very small and very light spots, but no rips, tears or odors. 2 Generation Antique Coxcomb Appliqué Quilt Item #2-2277 $299 This antique Coxcomb Appliqué quilt started as a c 1880's top which was "Quilted by Elizabeth" later (probably 1960's). It is HAND APPLIQUED using Turkey Red and pale yellow cotton for the appliqué pieces and bright white cotton for the background. Measuring 74" x 74", it has a thin batting, a hand applied light lemon yellow binding, and a bright white cotton blend back. HAND QUILTED with outline quilting around each appliqué piece, florals on the red centers and coxcomb bases, an oval feather wreath on just one of the 4 coxcombs (see photo), elaborate finial-type quilting between the blocks, and diamond chain quilting on the border @ 9 neat and tiny stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors. A BEAUTIFUL, CLEAN, EASY CARE QUILT!! Multicolored Antique Pinwheels Quilt Item #2-2254 $299 This 1920's, this Pinwheel quilt is machine pieced using cotton scrap bag fabrics for the 10" blocks, and bright white cotton for the background. Measuring 72" x 68", it has a thin cotton batting, a hand applied binding, and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with angle quilting over the face, and angle quilting interspersed with florals and feathers on the borders @ 7 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors. Antique Pastel Double Wedding Ring Quilt Item #2-2253 SOLD!! HAND PIECED using cotton scrap bag prints and solids (1" wide at the widest point), and bright white for the background, this 1930's Double Wedding Ring quilt has been lovingly used over the years. Measuring 84" x 72" inside the scalloped border, it has a thin cotton batting, a hand applied printed binding (some wear), and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with triple straight line quilting on the rings and folky florals on the background @ 8 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors, just a CLEAN & FRESH READY-TO-USE QUILT!! Bright Multicolored Baskets Antique Quilt Item #2-2250 SOLD!! This bright & vibrant Basket quilt from the 1920's is machine pieced using scrap bag cotton prints and solids with the baskets on angles, a bright white cotton for the background, and a 6-1/4" wide bright pink frame. The quilt measures 78" x 78", has a thin cotton batting, a hand applied binding (light wear), and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with angle quilting across the basket blocks and border, feather wreaths on the white background, and rope quilting on the frame @ 6 to 8 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found no rips, tears, stains or odors, just a REFRESHING MULTICOLORED ANTIQUE QUILT!! Multicolored Antique Hourglass Quilt Item #2-2178 $299 HAND PIECED, this 1910-1920 Hourglass quilt was made using many colorful scrap bag cottons for the hourglasses, including many 1880's fabrics, with a pink, blue & yellow floral print on white for the background. The quilt measures 78" x 76", has a thin cotton batting, a hand applied Turkey red binding, and a creamy white back. HAND QUILTED with angle quilting on the pieced blocks and diamond quilting on the background blocks @ 11 very neat and very tiny stitches per inch counting one side only. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors, just a CLEAN, CRISP, GRAPHIC QUILT!! Antique Red & White Baskets Quilt Item #2-2160 SOLD!! This 1920's quilt has 30 HAND PIECED Basket blocks with sawtooth handles, made using a red diamond and circle cotton print with green mini squares on a white ground, and sashing in the same print separating them. The background is an unbleached muslin. The quilt measures 85" x 74", has a thin cotton batting, a hand and machine applied binding, and an unbleached muslin back. HAND QUILTED with a few light pencil marks visible, there is running shell quilting over the entire quilt @ 7 to 9 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED FOR THE FIRST TIME, we found no rips, tears, stains or odors. Butterscotch & Yellow Antique Basket Quilt Item #2-2155 $299 Lovingly used over the years, this c 1850's Basket quilt is HAND PIECED using cotton fabrics - a chrome yellow for the baskets (which used to have a print that's now faded away), bright white for the background, and a butterscotch honeycomb print with tiny pink dots for the alternating blocks and borders. Measuring 90" x 76", it has a thin cotton batting with seeds and a bright white back, which was brought around to the front and hand stitched to form the tiny 3/16" wide binding. HAND QUILTED with double straightline quilting across the basket pieces, triple arch quilting inside the HAND APPLIQUED basket handles, square quilting on the background blocks, and diamond quilting on the frame and border @ 8 neat and tiny stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears or odors, but some light spots on a couple basket blocks where someone was careless with the bleach, a few pieces that need resewn, and a couple pops on the chrome yellow where the acidic print once was. GREAT LOOK, GREAT COLORS, GREAT 150+ YEAR OLD QUILT!! Rare Stearns & Foster "Country Gardens" Antique Quilt Item #2-2154 $299 This hard to find Stearns & Foster "Country Gardens" pattern, issued to satisfy the growing demand for Art Deco enthusiasts, dates to the 1930's and is shown in T. K. Woodards Twentieth Century Quilts book. This quilt is made using mint green, pale lavender and lilac, with a bright white cotton for the background. Measuring 83" x 67", it has a thin cotton batting and a bright white back, which was brought around to the front and hand stitched to form the binding. HAND QUILTED with stitch-in-the-ditch, straightline, and angle quilting over the entire quilt @ 5 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found no rips, tears or odors, just a couple light spots. VERY UNUSUAL!! 2 Color Crown of Thorns Antique Quilt Item #2-2137 SOLD!! Made using just 2 fabrics, this 1880's Crown of Thorns quilt is HAND PIECED. The maker used a pink on pink (double pink) print for the crowns and border, and a brown dot on white shirting fabric for the background. The quilt measures 88" x 74", has a cotton batting with seeds and a white back. The binding was made by bringing the border fabric to the back and hand stitching in place. HAND QUILTED, with square quilting on the pieced blocks, diamond quilting on the background, and square quilting on the border @ 5 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors, just one old repair as shown. This quilt was made for everyday use and is nice and mellow! Fabulous 1870's Rolling Stones Antique Quilt Top Item #2-2130 $299 It's hard to find early quilt tops in pristine condition, but this c 1870's Rolling Stones top certainly fits the bill! The maker HAND PIECED most of the quilt, but used the latest "modern" appliance, the treadle sewing machine, to attach the last row of the border! The quilt blocks are made of interesting 1860's-1870's cotton fabrics including cool, chocolate, and coppertoned brown prints, butterscotch prints, and shirting prints for the blocks, and a beautiful print with grey running leaves on creamy white for the alternating blocks - there's no solid fabrics, just prints. The top measures 79" x 79". In crisp condition with the glaze still visible, we find just a couple light storage spots. This would make an absolutely fabulous quilt, or just hem it and use as a table topper. Antique Boston Commons Quilt Item #2-2101 $299 They called these 1920's quilts "Make Do" quilts, because all you needed was some left over fabric from your scrap bag (some new and some gently used) and a couple old sheets. This example is in a Boston Commons pattern, with a center square outlined in shades of pink, surrounded by rows of multicolored 1-1/2" squares of fabric, followed by white sheeting, a double row of 1-1/2" squares, more sheeting, and finished with a single row of pieces for the border. These 1920's quilt makers were very frugal - every scrap of material was used! Measuring 74" x 66", it has no batting, a machine applied binding, and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with large diamonds over the center pieces, double straightline quilting across the double pieced frame, and angle quilting across the borders @ 6 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found no rips, tears, stains or odors, but one cotton print with fabric splits. A FABULOUS "COUNTRY GARDEN" LOOK ~ CLEAN & FRESH!! Antique Snails Trail Quilt Item #2-2095 $299 This Snails Trail top, HAND PIECED using many cotton scrap bag fabrics including Feed Sack prints, dates to the 1920's, but a second generation added the bright red sashing and finished the quilt probably in the 1950's/1960's. Each of the 20 Snails Trail blocks has a bright white cotton background. The quilt measures 82" x 67", has a thin poly batting, a hand and machine applied dark red binding, and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with angle quilting over the entire quilt @ 6 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors. BOLD, BRIGHT, BEAUTIFUL & CLEAN!! Log Cabin/Barn Raising Antique Quilt Item #2-2003 SOLD!! It never ceases to amaze us how artistic our early ancestors were! This 1920's example is a case in point - using just 5 colors, the maker managed to create a super graphic work of art! This Barn Raising version of a Log Cabin quilt has 1" wide pieces in light blue, light pink, light green, black and red Chambray fabric, popular during the 1920's. Chambray is a cotton fabric with white warps and colored wefts creating a two toned effect. The quilt measures 72" x 72", has a thin cotton batting, a hand and machine applied pink binding, and a cream back. HAND QUILTED with outline quilting on each piece @ 6 stitches per inch. In clean condition, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors - MAGNIFICENT!! 2 Color Jacobs Ladder Variation Antique Quilt Item #2-2012 $299 This 2 color Jacobs Ladder quilt from the 1940's is made of bright pink and bright white cotton fabrics in a unique variation of the pattern. The quilt measures 90" x 70", has a very thin cotton batting, a hand applied binding, and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with diamond quilting on the pieces, giant sunflowers with concentric circles and pumpkin seed centers on the background, and vertical straightline quilting on the borders @ 8 to 9 neat and tiny stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors, just a REFRESHINGLY GRAPHIC QUILT!!! Colorful Pinwheels Antique Quilt Item #2-2001 $299 This 1930's Pinwheel quilt is HAND PIECED using cotton fabrics from the makers scrap bag. Each of the 72 pinwheel blocks is made using several different prints, offset by blocks with a salmon and white check - VERY GRAPHIC!! Measuring 82" x 71", it has a thin cotton batting, a pale pink hand applied binding, and an unbleached muslin back. HAND QUILTED with straightline quilting across the entire quilt @ 8 neat and tiny stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors. Bright & Bold Dresden Plate Antique Quilt Item #2-1048 $299 This 1940's antique quilt is HAND PIECED & HAND APPLIQUED using cotton prints and solids for the flowers, has a creamy white for the background, and a butterscotch for the centers and sashing. Measuring 98" x 78", it has a very thin cotton batting, a hand applied binding, and a creamy white back. HAND QUILTED with a flower in each center, outline quilting on the pieces, angle quilting on the background, diamond and chain quilting on the sashing, and vining leaf quilting on the borders @ 10 & 11 neat and tiny stitches per inch counting just one side! PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found no rips, tears, stains or odors.
Log Cabin Antique Quilt Summer Spread Item #2-1040 $299 This LIGHTWEIGHT 1920's Log Cabin antique quilt in the Light & Dark pattern is made using 3 cotton printed fabrics - orange, turquoise and brown florals on butter yellow, pink & white florals on baby blue, and blue & white swirls on pink - VERY COUNTRY! It measures 81" x 67", has no batting, and a back in the same butter yellow print, brought around to the front and hand stitched to form the binding. HAND QUILTED with running diamond quilting over the entire quilt @ 7 stitches per inch. In UNUSED, UNWASHED, MINT CONDITION, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors - STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL SIZING SHEEN!!!
