Vintage Indian Crib Quilt c 1950's

This 1950's Indian crib quilt is made with dark
peach cotton for the Indians, chocolate brown cotton for the sashing and
borders, and bright white cotton for the zig zags and background. It
measures 49" x 45", has a thin cotton batting, a machine applied binding, and a
red & white checked back. HAND QUILTED with radiating
Chevron quilting on the blocks and outline quilting on the sashing & borders @ 6
stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we
found very, very light bleed around the Indians, a couple faint spots, and a
couple professional repairs to the white background. This is a very rare
crib quilt - the first we've had in over 30 years!!

Antique Pineapple Log Cabin Quilt w/6,644 Pieces!

This HAND PIECED Pineapple version of a
Log Cabin quilt has
6,644 pieces and dates to the
1860's. Each 1/2" wide piece (6,120 of them!) is made of wool fabrics from
the makers scrap bag with 1/2" wide pieces (a total of 524) making a striped
border. The quilt reverses to a brown on cream cotton leaf patterned
fabric with 11-1/2" on the top and bottom in a brown & gold striped cotton.
The quilt measures 84" x 74" and has no batting. The binding is in a gold
colored wool, which was brought around to the back to make a 2 wide frame on the
back (see photo). Vertical stitch-in-the-ditch quilting along each block
holds the front to the back @ 6 stitches per inch. In "as found"
condition, we find a few pieces with moth damage (1% or less), but no rips,
tears, or stains. For a change of pace, you can reverse the quilt for an
entirely new look!

Antique Indigo Blue Ducks Foot in the Mud Quilt

This Ducks Foot quilt from the 1880's is HAND
PIECED using many different Indigo Blue cotton prints from the makers
scrap bag along with several different double pink cottons for the pieces and
background. Measuring 85" x 68", it has a very thin cotton batting, a hand
applied binding, and a marvelous cream, green & lavender cabbage rose print on
red for the back. HAND QUILTED with straightline quilting
across the pieced blocks, angle quilting on the background, and diamond quilting
on the border @ 7 stitches per inch. In "as found" condition, we see no
rips, tears, stains or odors. A previous owner stitched sleeves on the
back so that it could be used as a wall hanging.
BRIGHT, BOLD & GRAPHIC!!

Pineapple Blades Antique Log Cabin Quilt

Always a favorite
pattern of ours, this 1890s Pineapple pattern Log Cabin quilt is HAND
PIECED using 1" wide strips of scrap bag wool fabrics, both solid and
prints, with bright red diamond centers. Some of the wools have wear and
probably came from mens suits or ladies dresses. The quilt measures 78" x
68" and has a plaid wool back with the same fabric used to make the hand applied
binding. Invisible stitch-in-the-ditch HAND QUILTING
holds the back to the front. In "as found" condition, we find
just a couple of pieces with splits and moth nips, but no stains or odors.
WHAT A GRAPHIC & STUNNING WALL HANGING THIS WOULD MAKE!!

Ultra Graphic Antique Log Cabin Quilt
Item #F-2233 SOLD!!
From a Portsmouth
collectors estate comes this 1860-1880 ultra graphic Log Cabin wall hanging
quilt. It's HAND PIECED using off white for the centers
and either gold or yellow, black, light or turquoise blue, peach and rose silks
in 1/2" wide strips, some with designs woven in. Measuring 54" x 44", it
has no batting and a very bright golden yellow for the back. The binding
was made by bringing the backing fabric around to the front and and stitching in
place. The maker embellished the binding by adding Turkey Track stitching
in black embroidery floss, and the back is held to the front with 4 invisible
knots. In "as found" UNUSED condition, we see no rips,
tears, stains or odors. As a wall hanging, it would make a
FABULOUS focal point!! ONE OF THE FINEST ONES WE'VE
SEEN!!

Antique Wild Goose Chase Quilt w/Saw Tooth Frame

This c 1920 Wild
Goose Chase quilt is HAND PIECED using a tiny white print
on navy blue and a red & white print for the goose pieces with the same 2
fabrics used for the 1-1/4" wide frame, and a bright white cotton for the
background. Measuring 93" x 80", it has a thin cotton batting, a hand
applied binding, and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED
with angle quilting across the pieces, feather wreaths with floral centers and
corner petals on the white background blocks, pumpkin seed quilting on the cross
pieces, and running feather quilting on the borders @ 9 stitches per inch.
PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found some light sun fading
on opposite corners, a couple small and light rust-type stains near the frame,
but no rips, tears or odors. CLEAN & VERY GRAPHIC!!

Antique Navajo Rug/Wall Hanging

From the 1920's comes this wool HAND
WOVEN Navajo Indian rug or wall hanging. It's woven with deep
red, bright cheddar and medium green with 2 chocolate brown stripes on a creamy
white background. Measuring 39" x 18-1/2", it has fringe on one end only.
We found no rips, tears, odors or mothing damage.

Antique Red White & Blue Diamond in Square/Bars Crib Quilt

This unusual
combination Diamond in Square and Bars crib quilt from the 1930's is machine
pieced using dark red, dark slate blue, and creamy white cotton fabrics.
The maker placed 3 pieced blocks on either red, cream or blue backgrounds giving
the quilt a bars look! She also used the same fabrics to create a striped
frame, and the red for the border. The back was made from old flour sacks.
The quilt measures 33" x 32", has no batting and a machine applied brighter red
binding. Machine quilted diamonds in the center of each block hold the
back to the front. In UNUSED, UNWASHED clean condition,
we see no rips, tears, stains or odors. UNUSUAL & GRAPHIC!!

Unique Honeycomb Antique Quilt

The way the maker
HAND PIECED this quilt, it's as if the
honeycombs are a poncho laid on a sheet! Each of the cotton scrap bag
prints in the honeycomb measure just 1-1/2" across, with lots of early copper
toned madder prints, shirting prints, cinnamon pinks, etc., and an autumn leaf
on a brown & blue plaid ground for the background. The quilt
measures 84" x 62", has a cotton batting and an unbleached muslin back.
The binding was made by bringing the border fabric around to the back and hand
stitching in place. HAND QUILTED
with running shell quilting over the
entire quilt @ 8 stitches per inch.
PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED,
we found no rips, tears or odors, just a couple of light spots on the back which
could have been there prior to being used in this quilt, and an old repair (darn
those bed springs!) 3-3/4" x 1-1/2" on the binding 6" from a corner (see
close-up photo). A CLEAN, EARLY,
SUPER GRAPHIC QUILT!

Barn Raising Log Cabin Antique Quilt

This Barn Raising Log
Cabin quilt began as a hand pieced top from the 1870's with cranberry and white
resist prints, cinnamon pink and red on cream prints, and solid forest green
cotton fabrics which still retain a sheen. It was finished sometime in the mid
20th century, with the finisher adding a white cotton back and hand applied
binding. It has no batting and measures 88" x 86". HAND QUILTED
with "stitch in the ditch" quilting @ 7 stitches per inch. In
UNUSED, UNWASHED condition, we found no rips, tears or odors,
but a few light storage spots - MAGNIFICENT!!!

Antique Indigo Patchwork Quilt

This 4 Patch/9 Patch
Variation quilt from the 1880's is HAND PIECED using
many period cotton fabrics for the blocks including Cadet blue, burgundy and
shirting prints for the pieced blocks, and a quarter moon print on dark Indigo
blue for the alternate blocks and borders. It measures 80" x 68", has a
thin cotton batting, and an unbleached muslin for the back. The binding
was made by bringing the border fabric to the back and hand stitching in place.
HAND QUILTED with straightline quilting on the pieced
blocks, diamond quilting on the background blocks, and angle quilting on the
borders @ 6 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED
FOR THE FIRST TIME, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors, just
a CRISP, CLEAN, GRAPHIC QUILT!!
Bright & Colorful Antique Peony Quilt

From the 1930's comes this HAND PIECED
Peony quilt, made with all cotton fabrics including bright coral pink
and Nile green for the peonys and bright white for the background, with all
three fabrics used in the deep border. The quilt also has HAND
APPLIQUED stems, measures 88" x 74", has a thin cotton batting, a light
pink hand applied binding, and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED
with outline quilting inside the peonys, square quilting on the
baskets, large feather wreaths and square quilting on the background, and double
rope quilting on the borders @ 8 to 10 neat and tiny stitches per inch counting
one side only. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found no
rips, tears, stains or odors, just a CLEAN, CRISP, UNUSED QUILT!!

Rare Rolling Stone/Garden Maze Antique Quilt Top

quilts, but never the 2 patterns together!! Dating to the 1880's, this RARE variation quilt top is HAND PIECED
using many period cotton printed fabrics for the Rolling Stones
with a creamy white for the background, and deep Indigo Blue and bright Cheddar
Orange solids for the Garden Mazes. Measuring 84" x 74", it has light
storage spotting visible mainly on the creamy white fabrics, but no rips, tears
or odors. FFABULOUS, FABULOUS, FABULOUS!!!

Eyedazzler Triangles Antique Quilt

Such a bright, interesting quilt! Dating
to the 1930's, this Pyramid quilt is HAND PIECED using
bright magenta pink, royal blue and bright white cotton fabrics. Measuring
86" x 86", it has a thin cotton batting, a hand applied royal blue binding, and
an unbleached muslin back. HAND QUILTED with
outline quilting inside each piece, and double straightline quilting across the
triple borders @ 6 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND
LAUNDERED, we found fading on the magenta pink border in several
places, but no rips, tears, stains or odors. CLEAN & SUPER
