Antique Turkey Red Patchwork Quilt w Saw Tooth Frame

This 1880's Turkey Red and white Checker board quilt is HAND PIECED using Turkey Red and bright white cotton fabrics with each square measuring 2-3/4". It also has a saw tooth frame! The quilt is 84" x 76", has a thin cotton batting with a few seed fragments, a machine stitched binding, and a bright white back. At one point, this quilt was used as a wall hanging and has velcro stitched to the top and bottom on the back. HAND QUILTED, it has large diamond quilting on the pieces, small diamond quilting on the inner frame, outline quilting inside each saw tooth piece, and diamond & rope quilting on the borders @ 8 neat and tiny stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED FOR THE FIRST TIME, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors. A GREAT RED & WHITE EXAMPLE FOR YOUR COLLECTION!

Turkey Red & White Antique Spinning Pinwheel Quilt

When the treadle sewing machine was first introduced in the 1860's, quilt making, which was previously a time consuming endeavor, became a popular pastime. This 1890's Spinning Pinwheel quilt was treadle machine pieced in Turkey Red and bright white cotton fabrics in blocks measuring 9-1/2" square. The quilt measures 85" x 70", has a thin cotton batting and 2 different black & white floral shirting prints for the back, which was brought around to the front and hand stitched to form the 1/4" wide binding. HAND QUILTED with outline quilting inside and around each piece, double quilted florals on the white blocks, double Chevron quilting on the border blocks, and angle quilting on the borders @ 9 neat and tiny stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors, just a CLEAN & GRAPHIC RED & WHITE QUILT!!

Antique Red & White Baskets Quilt

From the 1890's comes this Basket quilt, HAND PIECED using Turkey Red for the baskets and bright white cotton for the background. Measuring 84" x 74" (with one side longer than the other), it has a thin cotton batting with a few seed fragments, a hand applied binding (old, but not original), and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED @ 5 to 8 stitches per inch with elbow (or Baptist/Methodist) quilting over the entire quilt, so named because several hands could quilt arcs at the same time, typical of Quilting Bees. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found no rips, tears, stains or odors. A FABULOUS & FOLKY 2 COLOR QUILT!!

Red & White Irish Chain Antique Quilt with Odd Borders

From the 1880's comes this unusual Triple Irish Chain quilt, HAND PIECED using Turkey Red and bright white cotton fabrics. Each chain piece measures 1-1/4" square. What makes this quilt so unusual is the borders - 2 crossed "sticks" with a single 5 petal flower, and bow ties in between, all HAND APPLIQUED! The quilt measures 88" x 74", has a thin cotton batting, a hand applied binding, and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with square quilting over the chain pieces, double quilting flowers on the background, and running bow ties on the deep borders @ 8 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found no rips, tears, stains or odors, but very light sun fading on one corner (on lower right hand corner as shown). This quilt has absolutely no wear - it must have had the sun fading early in its' life and was stored away in a blanket chest for many years. A GREAT RED & WHITE TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION!!

Red & White Antique Jacobs Ladder Quilt

This Jacobs Ladder Variation quilt dates to the 1890's and is HAND PIECED using Turkey Red and bright white cotton materials, complete with a Turkey Red 3-1/2" frame. Measuring 80" x 70", it has a thin cotton batting, a hand applied binding (very light wear to the short ends), and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with angle quilting across the pieced blocks, diamond quilting on the background blocks, and double angle quilting across the frame and border @ 8 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors, but some muting of the Turkey Reds from years of use and laundering.

Antique Stars in Broken Stars Quilt

Antique Drunkards Path Quilt

From the 1890's comes this red & white Drunkards Path quilt, HAND PIECED using Turkey Red for the paths and bright white cotton for the background. Measuring 84" x 73", it has a very thin cotton batting with a few cotton seed fragments, a hand applied binding (old, but not original), and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with double angle quilting across the paths and diamond quilting on the background @ 7 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found no rips, tears or odors, but a few stains on the back only which may have been there prior to being used for this quilt.

Dated 1926 Flying Geese Antique Quilt

Looking for a HAND PIECED red & white quilt? One that is clean, fresh & dated 1926? Then look no further ~ you've found it!! The maker, with the initials "D V T", used deep red cotton for the geese and bright white cotton for the background. Measuring 87" x 68", it has a thin cotton batting, a hand applied scalloped binding, and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with outline quilting inside the smaller geese pieces, outline quilting and figure 8's on the larger geese pieces, diamond quilting on the background, and rope quilting on the border @ 9 neat and tiny stitches per inch. The makers' initials and the date are embroidered in red cotton floss on the center of one border. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED FOR THE FIRST TIME, we found no rips, tear or odors, just a couple tiny pinhead sized spots. CLEAN, CRISP GRAPHIC!!

Red & White Antique Mini 9 Patch Quilt

Such small pieces! This 1870's Mini 9 Patch quilt was HAND PIECED using scrap bag cotton prints for the tiny 1/2" square pieces. Five 9 patch blocks were placed in an X pattern surrounded by solid white cotton blocks, then the process was repeated so there are 9 larger X blocks with 5 smaller X blocks inside. The quilt measures 76" x 72", has a very thin cotton batting with seed fragments, a tiny binding made by bringing the front around to the back and stitching in place, and a white back. HAND QUILTED with diamond and square quilting on the pieced blocks and stems of flowers quilted on the white background @ 8 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found "pops" in some of the red prints where the dye ate away at the fabric, but no rips, tears, stains or odors. STILL CRISP ~ CLEAN & READY TO USE RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!!

Antique Delectable Mountains Quilt w/Double Zig Zag Frame

Much time and planning was used in the making of this 1880's Delectable Mountains quilt, with it's double row of zig zags for the frame! It's HAND PIECED using both Turkey Red and red Chambray for the mountains and frame, and a bright white cotton for the background. Measuring 80" x 78", it has a very thin cotton batting, a hand applied white binding, and a white back. HAND QUILTED with double straightline quilting just 1/8" apart across the pieced blocks, square quilting on the background blocks, and double angle quilting 1/8" apart across the frame and borders @ 10 very neat and very tiny stitches per inch counting only one side. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors, just a CRISP, GRAPHIC, SELDOM USED QUILT!!

Red & White Touching Stars Variation Antique Quilt

This red & white Irish Chain/Touching Stars variation quilt dates to the 1880's and is HAND PIECED with 1" squares in Turkey Red, bright white, and home dyed tan cotton fabrics, and a bright white for the background. The tan could have been a "mistake" or she simply ran out of the Turkey Red, although many "mistakes" were made by quilters during this period as only God was perfect! The maker also used the Turkey Red to create a 1-3/4" wide frame. Measuring 80" x 66", it has a very thin cotton batting with a few seed fragments, a hand applied 3/16" wide Turkey Red binding, and a bleached muslin back. HAND QUILTED with straightline quilting on the pieced blocks, diamond quilting on the background blocks, and double angle quilting 3/16" apart across the frame and borders @ 9 to 10 very neat and very tiny stitches per inch counting just one side. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we found no rips, tears, stains or odors, just a CLEAN, GRAPHIC, NICELY QUILTED QUILT!!

Antique Sawtooth Touching Stars Quilt

A very difficult pattern to execute, the maker of this 1860's red & white Sawtooth Touching Stars did an excellent job HAND PIECING the Turkey Red and bright white cottons in this collectors quality quilt - the sawtooth triangle pieces are just 1" at the widest point! The quilt measures 78" x 78", has a very thin cotton batting with seed fragments, a hand applied 1/4" wide Turkey Red binding, and a bright white back. HAND QUILTED with 4 double quilted leafs on the large red diamonds, square quilting on the sawtooth pieces and half the white background blocks, feather wreaths with plain centers on the other background blocks, and running feather quilting on the borders @ 11 very neat and very tiny stitches per inch counting just one side. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED, we find no rips, tears or odors, just a couple very light & tiny spots (mostly on the back), and one tiny old sewup near a corner. If you're looking for an OUTSTANDING red & white quilt for your collection, LOOK NO FURTHER!!

Orangy Red Antique Basket Quilt

This Basket quilt from the 1930's was HAND PIECED using just 2 colors - an orangy-red cotton for the basket pieces and 2-3/4" wide frame, and either a bright white or a creamy white cotton for the block background. The alternating blocks are bright white cotton. The quilt measures 75" x 74", has a thin cotton batting, a machine applied bright red binding, and a white back. INTERESTING HAND QUILTING includes vertical straightline quilting on the basket blocks, stars within stars and square quilting on the background blocks, and double angle quilting across the frame and border @ 10 very neat and very tiny stitches per inch counting just one side, with light pencil marks visible. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED FOR THE FIRST TIME, we find no rips, tears, stains or odors. A CLEAN, GRAPHIC 2 COLOR QUILT!!
